Homesteading 101
AKA Kinship Immersion

A practical journey into the confluence of story, science, craft, permaculture, ancestral knowledge and time in the dirt

September 13 - 17, 2025

The Kinship world view is gaining traction in a world that has relentlessly pursued individual gain at the expense of life. But how do we live in kinship with our places? What knowledge, skills and philosophies will guide our journeys back into a life-way based in community, relationship, and reciprocity with the places we call home? Are you yearning to live more in a world of belonging than belongings? Join us on this exploration!

Homesteading 101 is about exploring and restoring relationships with the more-than-human world through hands-on experience. We will delve into real skills that allow us to sustain life:

  • tool sharpening, carving, and crafting

  • wild gathering, plant and tree identification

  • thermophilic composting of human waste

  • agroforestry and agroecology

  • root-cellaring, fermentation and dehydration

  • dairy goat husbandry

  • space for silence, intuition, and observation
